Taliban regime bans girls from secondary education

The Taliban education ministry stated that secondary education for boys in grades seven to 12 would start again on Saturday. However, the statement did not mention the return of girls to secondary education classes. The proclamation, unless changed, would make Afghanistan the only country on earth to bar half of its population from obtaining a secondary education. Despite the edict, the Taliban is allowing women to obtain primary school degrees, but only in segregated classrooms from men. Under the new policy, further primary education for women would effectively end once the current flow of women in primary schools graduate. This event took place on 09/17/2021 at the following location: Kabul, Afghanistan.
