Jordan stops Iranian-backed weapons smuggling

Jordan has uncovered and thwarted a suspected Iranian-led plot to smuggle weapons into the country. The weapons were sent by Iranian-backed militias in Syria to a cell of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, which has ties to the military wing of Hamas. The aim of the plot was to destabilize Jordan, a country that hosts a US military base and shares borders with Israel, Syria, and Iraq. The weapons seized included Claymore mines, C4 and Semtex explosives, Kalashnikov rifles, and Katyusha rockets. This event took place on 05/15/2024 at the following location: Amman, Jordan.
