Kidnappers abducted six members of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) in the North West region of Cameroon on Monday. The kidnappers demanded an $82,000 ransom for their release and gave a three-day deadline for the money to be paid. This event took place on 05/22/2023.

An IED blast hit a UN peacekeepers' armored vehicle outside their camp in Tessalit on Sunday injuring four Sri Lankan soldiers. Another IED was discovered and defused after a search of the area. Early in the day, UN forces detonated another IED 23 km northwest of their camp in Tessalit. This event took place on 05/21/2023.
