Hundreds of Boko Haram captives rescued
Cameroon's military has rescued over 300 civilians from Boko Haram captivity along the border with Nigeria and Chad. The operation, called Alpha, resulted in the neutralization of scores of militants. The rescued civilians, mostly women and children, were brought to a military camp in the Dabanga district. Democratic Republic of Congo
Civilians killed in ADF attack
At least 11 villagers, including a child, were killed in an attack by ADF rebels affiliated with the Islamic State network in the northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The recent attack took place in Ndimo village in Ituri province. The victims were shot and killed with machetes. Congolese and Ugandan soldiers were present during the attack but intervened late. Prison van ambushed in France
At least two French prison officers were killed and three injured in an ambush on a prison van. French authorities launched a manhunt to find the attackers, who escaped with an unarmed inmate. Israeli observation balloon downed by Hezbollah
An IDF observation balloon was shot down by Hezbollah over the Lebanon border. The IDF confirms that the balloon crashed in Lebanon due to Hezbollah missile fire. However, there is no concern about sensitive information being accessed from the sensors and cameras on the balloon.
