Hijacked cargo ship recovered off Haiti
Haiti's National Police agency has recovered a hijacked cargo ship loaded with rice after a five-hour gunbattle with gangs. Two police officers were injured, and an unknown number of gang members were killed. The hijackers were members of two gangs, the 5 Seconds and the Taliban gang. The ship was headed to Cap-Haitien and had been seized by gunmen who kidnapped everyone on board and stole 10,000 sacks of rice. This event took place on 04/08/2024.
