Pro-Kurdish leaders in Turkey stated that Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), requires improved communication with the outside world to effectively oversee the militant group's planned disarmament and political transition. "Mr. Ocalan will personally oversee the disarmament process," stated Tulay Hatimogullari, co-chair of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, in Istanbul on Wednesday. "To facilitate his work on this issue, he intends to meet with various groups across Turkey, the Middle East, Europe, and indeed, globally."
