Iran executes nine Islamic State terrorists
On Tuesday, the Iranian judiciary’s Mizan news agency announced the executions of nine Islamic State terrorists. It stated that the militants were detained following a 2018 clash in the country’s western area with Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, during which three soldiers and several fighters from the Islamic State group were killed. Lebanon
UNIFIL peacekeepers confronted in southern Lebanon
United Nations peacekeepers from the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were confronted by civilians in southern Lebanon during a coordinated patrol with the Lebanese army. The group, reportedly including plainclothes Hezbollah militants, attempted to block the patrol near Hallusiyat al-Tahta by throwing stones and physically assaulting the peacekeepers, with one Finnish soldier being slapped. US sanctions Los Chapitos
The United States has imposed sanctions on Los Chapitos, a violent faction of Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel led by the sons of notorious drug lord Joaquín ""El Chapo"" Guzmán. The US Treasury Department has labeled Los Chapitos as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist group, accusing them of facilitating the trafficking and production of fentanyl, a deadly opioid. US plans to establish a new base in the Philippines
The U.S. Department of Defense plans to build a new maintenance and repair facility at Naval Detachment Oyster Bay in the Philippines to support manned and unmanned surface vessels used by the Philippines to observe Chinese vessels. The facility will be equipped to maintain 11.6-meter vessels and support unmanned surface vessels, including Devil Ray T-38 and Manta T-12s, delivered to the Philippines by the U.S. The project aims to enhance maritime domain awareness and ISR capabilities and is part of a broader U.S.-funded infrastructure project to strengthen regional operational infrastructure. Al-Shabab terrorists push to regain foothold in eastern Hiiran region
On Monday, al-Shabab terrorists clashed with Somali forces and local militia for the fifth straight day, on the outskirts of Moqokorei village in Hiiraan region. The terrorists are reportedly determined to retake the strategic town as well as the village of Mahas. Last week, the rebels captured the towns of Xawaadley and El Hareeri and pushed deeper into the eastern Hiiran region, forcing Somali troops to engage in counterattacks. Government forces have yet to get a better footing in the area. This event took place on 06/10/2025.
