With the increasing number of ISIS-K attacks in the country, it is not surprising that new alerts have been issued in Kabul.  There are significant targets that would be symbolic victories for the group if they were able to execute a major attack.

The US and Britain warned their citizens of threats to Kabul hotels. They said that citizens at or near the Serena Hotel should leave immediately and advised not to stay at other hotels in Kabul or elsewhere. As the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen in Afghanistan, key healthcare employees haven't been paid in 18 months and are running out of supplies.  The healthcare situation in the country will get worse in the weeks ahead, especially outside of Kabul, as the Taliban waits for humanitarian aid to arrive.

Hundreds of doctors gathered outside of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul to ask for the World Bank to pay their unpaid salaries for the past 14 months. The protesters from Samangan and Nuristan provinces also said they were running short on medicine.

Heavy airstrikes are continuing as the Saudi-led coalition continues to clash with Houthi rebels in Marib.  Strikes are expected to intensify in the coming weeks as Houthis push toward energy infrastructure.

Saudi-led coalition airstrikes killed over 400 Houthi rebels in the Al Abdiyah district of Marib province in the past 96 hours. A total of 118 airstrikes were carried out. 15 Houthi militia vehicles were also destroyed in the attacks.

Over 900 arrests have been made in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with recent civilian killings in the region.  The suspects come from a number of militant organizations and the operations over the weekend illustrate the threat that remains in this region of India.

The Quad kicks off the second phase of Malabar 2021 in the Bay of Bengal.  While much of the focus has been on AUKUS for the past month, the Quad still remains an important alliance in the INDO-PACOM AOR.

The second phase of the Malabar 2021 exercise with India, the United States, Japan and Australia is set to kick off in the Bay of Bengal and run from October 12th through the 15th.
