Cyberattacks reported on Romanian election day

A Russian hacker group, DDOSIA/NoName057, launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on several Romanian government and presidential candidates' websites on the day of the first round of a presidential election re-do. The targeted websites include the Romanian Constitutional Court, the main government portal, the foreign ministry site, and four presidential candidates' websites, including those of Crin Antonescu and Nicușor Dan. The attack comes amidst concerns of potential Russian influence in the election, following the cancellation of the initial round last year due to allegations of illegal campaigning. This event took place on 05/04/2025 at the following location: Bucharest, Romania.
