Violent clashes between the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) and Turkish forces in the northern Duhok province of the Kurdistan Region occurred Thursday night into Friday. These clashes, involving light and medium weapons near villages on Matin Mountain, represent the first violation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's recent call from prison for his group to disarm and dissolve.
