120 dead from 3-days of fighting in Somalia

After three days of fighting between the Somali National Army (SNA) and the Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa (ASWJ) forces in Gulmudug State casualty figures have reportedly reached 120 deaths and 600 injuries according to an ASWJ spokesman. The ASWJ is a Somalia-based paramilitary group consisting of moderate Sufis opposed to radical Salafism. They have been fighting against al-Shabab terrorists in the country. The ASWJ leadership believes the federal government has failed to end the al-Shabab insurgency in Galmudug State. The Somali government said that the ASWJ is keen to destabilize the efforts on matters relating to the fight against al-Shabab and general governance. The UN has called for a ceasefire between the two groups. This event took place on 10/26/2021 at the following location: Gulmudug State, Somalia.
